Advocate Sherman Hospital Outpatient offers lung screening talk

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, likely because people often don't experience symptoms until the cancer is already at an advanced stage. A lung screening can help to detect lung cancer and other lung diseases sooner, increasing the chances for a cure.

To encourage appropriate lung screenings, Advocate Sherman Hospital is hosting a free program called "Should I Get a Lung Screening?" from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Advocate Outpatient Center, 12155 Regency Parkway in Huntley.

Join Dr. Cynthia Steimle, cardiothoracic surgeon, and Stephanie Boecher, director of Sherman Hospital's Cancer Care Center, as they discuss the importance of lung screenings for those who may be at risk of developing lung cancer.

They also will explain the new low-dose CT lung screening program available at Advocate Sherman Hospital.
