All Des Plaines residents now pay same rates for park programs

The 13,000 Des Plaines residents who live in the Mount Prospect Park District instead of the Des Plaines Park District can now access Des Plaines park programs and facilities at resident rates, officials said.

Since residents west of Mount Prospect Road pay taxes to the Mount Prospect Park District instead of Des Plaines, if they wanted to use a Des Plaines park program they had to pay nonresident rates. That's now changed.

However, these residents must wait to sign up for programs until the nonresident registration periods, which are typically a week after residents can sign up, said Don Miletic, the Des Plaines park director.
