Indian Trails Library to host groundbreaking ceremony for renovations Saturday

The Wheeling-based Indian Trails Public Library District will hold a groundbreaking event Saturday to kick off the library's $14.4 million renovation project.

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the library, 355 Schoenbeck Road in Wheeling. People who attend the ceremony can write memories on the library's wall, and photos will be taken and placed in the library's time capsule. An auction of library equipment that will not be needed after the renovation will also take place Saturday.

Construction that's expected to last about eight to 12 months will begin next week. A temporary library will open April 4 at 70 W. Dundee Road in Buffalo Grove.

The renovation will add about 15,000 square feet of space to the library, including room for private study rooms, a computer lab and additional seating for programs.
