<h3 class="breakHead">Hoffman Estates man gets 50 years for sex assault</h3>

A Hoffman Estates man convicted in November of sexually assaulting a woman was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison Wednesday. Prosecutors say Ronald F. Smith, 40, entered the Hoffman Estates woman's locked bedroom on April 7, 2015, attempted to restrain her with duct tape and forced her to perform a sex act. He served as his own attorney during the trial and for sentencing. Full story.

<h3 class="breakHead">Attack on Elgin teen posted to social media</h3>

Elgin police are investigating an attack on teenager that was recorded and posted on social media. A video of the fight posted on social media shows more than 10 people yelling and several smaller fights breaking out. At one point two girls are shown being hit and kicked in the head while several others stand nearby either yelling, participating or recording the fight on their phones. Full story.

The former chief technology officer at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights is facing felony theft charges after he stole nearly $300,000 from his ex-employer, authorities said. Full story.

<h3 class="breakHead">Imrem: NHL needs to hit back hard at Keith</h3>

There is no defense for Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith's behavior at Minnesota on Tuesday night. Keith - on his way to the hockey Hall of Fame - will make a stop on the NHL's suspension list for whacking his stick into the face of Wild forward Charlie Coyle. If Mike Imrem were the league's Duke of Discipline, the punishment would span the rest of the regular season and all of the postseason. Full column.

Rollins emerges as starting shortstop for Sox

Signed to a minor league contract Feb. 22, Jimmy Rollins didn't join the Chicago White Sox with aspirations of playing for Class AAA Charlotte this season. Rollins, a 37-year-old veteran who was voted National League MVP in 2007, joined the Sox because he wanted to be the starting shortstop. With top prospect Tim Anderson needing additional minor league seasoning, the opportunity was there, but Rollins had to earn it. And he did. Read Scot Gregor's take here.

<h3 class="breakHead">Bulls, Rockets have plenty in common</h3>

The Chicago Bulls couldn't ask for a more appropriate opponent on their playoff-desperation tour. Both the Bulls and Houston Rockets were widely expected to be top-four seeds in their respective conferences, but both teams are fighting to even make the playoffs.
