Retiring rabbi to speak on the Holocaust

After more than 30 years, Rabbi Steven Bob is retiring this year as senior rabbi of Congregation Etz Chaim of DuPage County, which serves more than 500 families in the Western suburbs.

He also is an adjunct faculty member at Elmhurst College, where he is the Jewish chaplain and a founder of the Holocaust Education Program.

As part of a commemoration of 25 years of Holocaust education at the college, Bob will present "Understanding the Holocaust" at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 17, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center on the Elmhurst College campus, 190 Prospect Ave.

A Service of Remembrance also will be held.

He is a leader of the faculty of Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute and a recipient of the Samuel Cook Award for Lifetime Achievement in Youth Work.

Bob also is recognized as an expert on Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day.
