'Shoes to the Rescue' to benefit Anderson Animal Shelter

Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin is conducting "Shoes to the Rescue" through May 14.

Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes at collection sites.

Anderson Animal Shelter will earn funds based on the number of pairs collected as Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated shoes and redistribute them to a network of microenterprise partners in developing nations.

By donating to "Shoes to the Rescue," proceeds from this third-party fundraiser will benefit the shelter's general operations and the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people's lives.

Shoes must be clean, in good condition and usable. When collecting the shoes please rubber band, zip tie, or pull laces around shoes to keep them together.

Collection sites, during normal business hours, are: Blue Goose, 300 S. Second St. in St. Charles; Curves, 359 S. Randall Road in Elgin; Chicago Steel Fox Valley Ice Arena, 1996 S. Kirk Road in Geneva; Elgin Community College Fitness Center, 1000 Spartan Drive, Building J, Elgin; Epic Air, 1675 N. Lancaster, South Elgin; JQ Designs, 310 Sundown Road in South Elgin; Millco Fasteners Inc., 1150 Davis Rd, Unit B in Elgin; LA Fitness, 488 Randall Road in South Elgin; and Penny Road Pub, 545 Penny Road in Barrington.

If you are interested in being a collection site, or organizing your own club, church group, organization or youth group to collect shoes, contact Anderson Animal Shelter's Development Department at (847) 697-2880, ext. 25, or development@andersonanimalshelter.org.
