Wal-Mart will hire approximately 160 new employees for its Supercenter in Carpentersville, slated to open in a few months.

About 165 associates will be moving from the East Dundee store to the new location at Route 25 and Lake Marian Road.

A temporary hiring center has opened at 150 S. Kennedy Drive, Suite 3A, beside the post office. Applications are accepted 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday. Interested applicants can also apply at careers.walmart.com.

Jobs are open to eligible U.S. veterans honorably discharged from active duty as part of Wal-Mart's Veterans Welcome Home Commitment launched in 2013. Since then, Wal-Mart has hired more than 100,000 veterans nationwide. To find out more, visit walmartcareerswithamission.com.

Carpentersville store manager Phil Armstrong said Wal-Mart will hire full- and part-time associates for the new Supercenter, which includes a full grocery section, including deli and bakery, a vision center and fuel center.

Wal-Mart provides eligible associates with a variety of health and well-being benefits, including health care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Eligible employees also can get matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, participate in an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance, and receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

The majority of new employees will begin work in May to help prepare the new store for reopening.
