Chicago police arrested a 26-year-old Carpentersville man in the 2015 shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Chicago.

Timothy Ward, 26, of the 0-100 block of Oxford Drive, was ordered held without bail Friday after being charged with murder, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Police said the shooting occurred at 1:03 a.m. July 18, 2015, on the 3500 block of West Grenshaw in Chicago. The victim, a 25-year-old man, sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and arm and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

According to a summary of events supplied by the Chicago police, the victim was standing outside when a light-colored van pulled up and an occupant fired multiple shots, striking the victim.

Officers subsequently learned that a second victim, an 18-year-old man, had been taken to Mount Sinai with a graze wound to the back.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported the shooting occurred after an argument. Ward eventually fled to Tennessee where he was recently picked up for a parole violation, authorities said. Ward, who is married with children, admitted to Chicago police detectives that he killed Hayes, authorities said.
