Sanfratello's 'Southside' pizza opening in Naperville
A pizza place that got its start on Chicago's South Side is coming to the Western suburbs.
Sanfratello's Pizza is opening at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 1299 S. Naper Blvd. in Naperville
The first Sanfratello's opened in 1969 in Chicago, and the chain now has locations in Tinley Park, Dyer and Highland in Indiana and Gilbert in Arizona.
Friends of second-generation owner Joe Sanfratello Jr. are opening the Naperville restaurant, which will offer takeout and delivery, the company said in a news release.
Sanfratello's sells square-cut, tavern-style pizza baked in a classic deck oven.
“Sanfratello's is the only pizzeria that still uses the original Southside combination of scamorza cheese, Chicago meats and a scratch-made Sicilian sauce that lets the flavor of the tomatoes shine through,” Sanfratello Jr. said.
Carryout guests from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. opening day will receive a free small cheese pizza in the thin-crust or pan style.
The new Sanfratello's at Naper Boulevard and 75th Street is across the street from where Mariano's plans to open a grocery store later this year.
