Hebron village president arrested on drug, gun charges

Hebron Village President John Jacobson was taken into custody yesterday after McHenry County sheriff's deputies found cocaine and a shotgun, among other drug paraphernalia in his home, authorities said. Emergency crews were called to Jacobson's home March 17 after a friend reported he wasn't breathing and was beginning to turn blue. Full story.

Schaumburg looks back, forward on 60th anniversary

As the village of Schaumburg celebrated its 60th anniversary last night, eight-term Mayor Al Larson took the opportunity to look back at goals accomplished and ahead to dreams still unfulfilled. Ex-Texas trooper pleads not guilty to perjury in Sandra Bland case

The fired Texas state trooper who last summer arrested Sandra Bland, a black woman from Naperville who was later found dead in a county jail, pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of misdemeanor perjury. Full story.

Traffic

An accident reported on Algonquin Road in the area of Carpentersville and Barrington Hills is causing heavy delays between Route 25 and Dundee Road. A crash also has been reported in Wheaton at Roosevelt and County Farm roads. Metra's Milwaukee District West line is reporting delays of 20 to 30 minutes for inbound trains because of mechanical problems on train 2212, which was scheduled to depart Roselle at 6:54 a.m. and arrive at Union Station in Chicago at 7:52 a.m. I-90 eastbound is backing up approaching Route 53 and delays are occurring on I-355 northbound north of Maple Avenue. Prospect Heights dedicates new shooting range in memory of officer
