Repairs finished on Chicago Executive Airport barrier damaged by sliding plane

Repairs are complete on a Chicago Executive Airport runway barrier system damaged in January when a plane slid off the runway and crashed into it.

The Engineered Materials Arresting System that absorbs planes' speed when they veer off the runway is made of blocks that crush upon impact.

The airport worked with New York-based Boland Construction to repair the damaged blocks last week. Repairs took about five nights of work to complete. The work was completed Saturday.
