Radiohead, Chili Peppers locked in for sold-out Lolla

Lollapalooza's 2016 lineup, announced early Wednesday, is sure to tap into some memories.

Headliner Radiohead played the summer music festival back in 2008, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have played multiple sets at the festival reaching all the way back to Lollapalooza's infancy in 1992. Another announced headliner, LCD Soundsystem, played the event back in 2007. Also making the starting lineup are J. Cole, Lana Del Rey, Future, Ellie Goulding, Major Lazer and Disclosure.

This year will also see the return of Jane's Addiction, fronted by Lollapalooza creator and founder Perry Farrell.

But that doesn't mean Lollapalooza organizers are only into recycling. With four days to fill this year, there were more than 170 slots, which means plenty of newer acts - including ZHU, Aurora, Bryson Tiller, Oh Wonder and Låpsley as well as heavy-hitting female artists including HAIM, Grimes, Alessia Cara, Lindsey Stirling, Kehlani, Melanie Martinez, and a highly anticipated return from Halsey - can get some stage time, too.

Also adding to the diverse lineup are G-Eazy, Chris Stapleton, Leon Bridges, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Miike Snow, Kurt Vile & The Violators.

And for dance music fans, Flosstradamus, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Duke Dumont, GRiZ, Big Gigantic, Marshmello and more will bring the beats.

"I've immersed myself in this experience for 25 years now, but it's in a constant state of evolution, living and breathing," Perry Farrell said in a prepared statement. "As long as we always try to find the eye of the hurricane, the epicenter of the music that is truly connecting right now, I think we can go for another 25 years. And we'll do it by always making sure to keep it fresh. Four days this year, over 170 of the best bands, including acts from all over the world as the music community connects globally more than ever; the best sound, staging and lights. We promise the festival will always strive to be the 'lifeblood' of the music scene."

Four-day general admission passes for the festival, which is set for July 28-31 in Grant Park, sold out Tuesday morning, and single-day passes sold out Wednesday. VIP and platinum packages are still available.
