Celebrate Earth Day by Participating in Schaumburg's April 23 Recycling Event

To celebrate Earth Day, the Village of Schaumburg's Environmental Committee, School District 54 and Schaumburg Township District Library are co-hosting Schaumburg's Annual Recycling Event on Saturday, April 23. Earth Day takes place April 22.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the School District 54 Office located at 524 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg.

Document destruction for residents only will take place on site; there will be a limit of two boxes per vehicle. No business or institutional documents will be accepted.

Electronic items accepted include televisions, computers, printers, telephones, radios, small appliances such as microwaves, holiday light strands, extension cords, computer wiring etc. Visit http://www.elginrecycling.com/electronics/ for a complete list.

Additional items accepted include books, clothes, textiles, automotive and household batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, bicycles, cell phones, eye glasses, American flags, fire extinguishers and CFL bulbs.

The event will not accept paint, hazardous waste, white goods, gas cylinders or Freon-containing items such as air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
