Volunteers wanted for park spring spruce-up

Community groups, residents and families are invited to help beautify their local parks when the Fox Valley Park District hosts its eighth annual Spring Spruce-up from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 2.

Volunteers can choose between four different sites to join park district staff and pick up litter, haul light brush and assist in the removal of invasive plant species. Volunteers will be placed in parks that are closest to their homes.

Parks scheduled for Spring Spruce-up (with crossroads) are:

• Blackberry Farm/Gilman Trail, 100 S. Barnes Road, Aurora

• North Aurora Island Park/State Street Bridge, North Aurora

• South Island Park, Ashland Avenue and Route 25, Aurora

• Waubonsie Lake Park, Montgomery and Kautz roads, Aurora

The park district, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Aurora, invites all Spring Spruce-Up volunteers for a complimentary lunch at noon at the Cole Center, 101 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora.

Interested volunteers should contact Community Outreach Manager Debbie Smith at (630) 966-4555 or dsmith@fvpd.net to register.
