Benedictine picks development leader

A veteran fundraising professional, Leonard A. Bertolini, has been named vice president of development at Benedictine University in Lisle. He'll join the university May 1.

Bertolini served for five years as vice president for university advancement at Lewis University in Romeoville, and for three years as the senior development officer focusing on major and planned gifts.

His previous advancement experience includes roles at St. Francis High School in Wheaton, De La Salle Institute in Chicago, St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights and Mount Carmel High School in Chicago.

A 1983 graduate of St. Patrick High School in Chicago and a 1988 graduate of Bradley University, Bertolini was the Chicago Sun-Times Basketball Player of the Year in 1983 and a member of two NCAA tournament teams at Bradley. He was inducted into the East Suburban Catholic Conference Hall of Fame in 2007.
