Easter egg hunts, bunny sightings and Holy Week events in the Northwest suburbs

Here's a look at some of the Easter week activities occurring in the Northwest suburbs.

Egg Hunts

Underwater EGGstravaganza: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, The Water Works, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg. Egg hunt, DJ, games and refreshments. Swim and finding eggs, which can be exchanged for goody bags. Hunts by age: 6:15 p.m. 1 -2 years; 6:30 p.m. 3-4 years; 6:45 p.m. 5-6 years; 7 p.m. 7-8 years; 7:15 p.m. 9 and older. Zero-depth pool. Aqua Egg Hunt: 10 a.m. Friday, Splash Central, 700 S. Bartlett Road, Bartlett. Must preregister at the Park District Community Center front desk. Bring a bathing suit, towel and collection bake. Egg Dive: 1 p.m. Friday, Park Place, 550 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood. Eggs are scattered around the Children's Activity Pool and children must dive to get them. Early arrival recommended. Saturday Egg Hunts with the Easter bunny: Hoffman Estates Park District. Children divided by age; eggs filled with treats. Bring your camera and a basket. The youngest, 0-3 years, will start at the time listed; attend only one. 8:15 a.m. Fabbrini Park, 1704 Glenlake Road; 9:30 a.m. Pine Park, 750 Charleston; 10:45 a.m. Cannon Crossing, 1675 Nicholson Drive. Spring Egg Scramble: 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Wheeling High School Football Field, 900 S. Elmhurst Road. Join families/youngsters, age 2 to 6, as they hunt for thousands of colorful candy and toy-filled eggs. Wheeling Park District mascots present for photos, along with the spring bunny. Free.

Trunk and Treaster: 1 p.m. Saturday, Elk Grove Baptist Church, 801 Beisner. Collect Easter eggs and candy from decorated car trunks telling the true Easter story. Crafts, kites, sidewalk chalk, soccer, hot dogs, snacks. Information, myegbc.com. Free.

Easter egg hunt: 1 p.m. Saturday, Ice House Mall, 200 Applebee St., Barrington. Children 12 and under look for eggs filled with treats at participating stores. t Easter bunny visits and photos. Free.

Aqua Egg Hunt: 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center, 5050 Sedge Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Eggs, goodies, games and a visit from the Easter bunny. Charitable Easter egg hunt: 1 p.m. Saturday, St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1095 E. Thacker St., Des Plaines. Children will find some eggs with play money which the kids will get to deposit into three buckets representing different charities, which the church will convert into real money and donate. Maundy Thursday Worship: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Peace Lutheran Church, 1050 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. In ecumenical cooperation with St. Peter United Church of Christ, the combined choirs will present special music. The ceremony of foot washing will be observed and Holy Communion will be served.

Easter Cantata: 11 a.m. Sunday, Brentwood Baptist Church, 588 Dara James, Des Plaines. Musical and narrative presentation of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
