DuPage State's Attorney Robert Berlin says College of DuPage trustees violated the Illinois Open Meetings Act two years ago when they agreed in closed session to extend the contract of then-President Robert Breuder. After 25 years, the Cadillac Ranch country music nightclub in Bartlett is expected to close later this month, but officials are promising a new concept in its place before long. Cadillac Ranch says its last dance will be Saturday, March 26, but renovations for the new venue should be done by mid-April. Full story.

McConchie claims victory in 26th state Senate District

After nearly 48 hours of waiting for McHenry County votes to be counted, Dan McConchie declared victory yesterday afternoon in the race to replace state Sen. Dan Duffy in Springfield. More than 1,000 votes separated McConchie from second-place finisher Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher, followed by Barrington Hills Village President Martin McLaughlin. Full story.

McHenry County clerk apologizes for election issues

McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan is promising to improve communication between her office and election judges after a software glitch and delayed vote counting in Tuesday's election. She also responded to criticism that "the integrity of the voting process" was ever in question. Full story.

Man found guilty of threatening state representative

A former Chicago resident faces either probation or two to five years in prison after being found guilty yesterday by a jury of making threatening telephone calls to state Rep. Jeanne Ives. Stephen Bona was arrested and charged just hours after Ives' legislative assistant reported getting the threatening voice mail at her district office on March 20, 2013. Full story.

Arlington Heights fire out quickly.

A fire that started in the attic of a two-story house was put out in 15 minutes last night by Arlington Heights firefighters, authorities said. Fire crews were dispatched about 6 p.m. to the house fire near Evanston Avenue and Miner Street, south of Memory Gardens Cemetery. Full story.

Passer-by alerts McHenry-area residents to fire

A passer-by alerted three McHenry-area residents that the attached garage of their home was on fire yesterday morning, after which they were able to escape safely, authorities said. Wauconda Fire District firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 10:15 a.m. on North Lakeview Circle in an unincorporated area near McHenry. Full story.
