Local Resident Returns To Run Business
Ray Bolton, a local Mundelein resident and graduate of Mundelein High School, will be providing free estimates on exterior house painting as part of an intensive internship this summer. This internship, given through the company College Works Painting, will allow Ray the first-hand experience of running a business by putting him in charge of a local branch of painters. He will run every aspect of the business, from payroll to on-site management, as CWP gives the opportunity to see what true entrepreneurship is like. He took this internship to help him get real world experience related to his major of economics at Illinois Wesleyan University.
CWP is the nation's largest residential painting company with branches spread all across the United States. This extensive network combined with CWP's close partnership with paint supplier Sherwin-Williams allows for the best chances at success for all interns. It provides the benefits of a large company backing while still allowing for the small business feel through local branches. Also, all hired painters are trained through Sherwin-Williams, so customers can rest easy knowing that the work being done is of the highest quality.
The internship itself is very tough to acquire. An applicant must go through a series of rigorous interviews, ending with a one-on-one interview with the region's president. After passing through that, there are many intensive hours of training in the fields of marketing, sales, management, and overall entrepreneurship. There is no coddling in this program, as the branch manager interns are set out to run every aspect of their businesses without anyone else to guarantee success. This being said, however, they aren't cut off completely. Each intern has access to a local District Manager, who were themselves once interns in the program, at all times to ask any questions and get tons of advice.
