Rotary honor District 212 Inspirational Eagle award-winners

The Rotary Club of Chicago-O'Hare Foundation honored a select number of District 212 students as Inspirational Eagle Award winners at the Inspirational Eagle Ceremony held in late February in the Eagle's Wing at West Leyden High School.

The ceremony recognized 15 students from the East and West campuses who have improved or maintained excellence in academics, attendance, behavior and overall citizenship.

The student honorees are Hannah Allen, Isabel Alvarado, Ingrid Alvarenga, Sarah Fiala, Steven Gemein, Evelyn Hernandez, Daniela Leon, Octaviano Lopez, Marco Muneton, Alondra Nunez, Blanca Pelayo, Michael Ruiz, Terra Stachurski, Xenia Vallejo and Homero Vasquez.

The students received a gift card and a certificate from the organization.

In a departure from award ceremonies held in previous years, Rotary club members decided to institute a new award dubbed the Inspirational Eagle Award. The newly instituted award and ceremony replaced the Rotary Top Ten Percent Ceremony.
