Chicago to hold inaugural teen literary festival

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Public Library and Columbia College Chicago are teaming up for the city's inaugural teen literary festival.

Teenagers are invited to attend the free event from April 15 to 16 at Harold Washington Library Center and Columbia College.

The festival will include readings, workshops and panel discussions. Among the artists and authors who will be participating are Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe winner Che "Rhymefest" Smith and novelist and poet Erika L. Sanchez.

Organizers say the event is aimed at providing "a safe and creative space for young adults to unlock and discover their unique voices through literary arts."
