You could win a weather radio

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Illinois Emergency Services Management Association are sponsoring a contest through March 31 to raise awareness of weather alert radios. To participate, read the narrative at www.illinois.gov/ready/Pages/default.aspx and take a short quiz. Then, complete the entry form and submit. A total of 100 NOAA weather alert radios will be awarded. The National Weather Service broadcasts watches, warnings, forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day. Radios can be programmed to receive alerts for a given county or area. When an alert is issued for your area, the radio will sound a warning alarm tone followed by the broadcast message. Besides weather information, the National Weather Service also broadcasts warnings and post-event information for all types of hazards, including natural, environmental and public safety hazards, such as earthquakes, chemical spills and Amber Alerts.
