Hiring begins for Mariano's in Naperville

Site work is approaching completion at a new Mariano's grocery store set to open later this year in Naperville.

The upscale grocery chain is targeting a "mid-year" opening for its store in the Fox Run Square shopping center at 1212 S. Naper Blvd, said James Hyland, a spokesman for Mariano's parent company, Roundy's Supermarkets Inc.

The store is taking the place of a former Dominick's that closed at the end of 2013 when Safeway pulled the chain out of the suburban area. Mariano's confirmed plans in September 2014 to open at the site just north of 75th Street, then demolished the old Dominick's last year and began construction of a new building.

Hyland said the store will have many of "the typical Mariano's signature touches," which include departments such as an oil and vinegar bar, in-store barbecue and coffee/gelato restaurants, a spice shop, a grilling station, a pharmacy, a sweet shop and a demonstration kitchen.

Mariano's is hiring to fill 400 part- and full-time positions for the Naperville store.

The company has set up a hiring office in the same shopping center as the future store at 1212 S. Naper Blvd., Suite 109.

Walk-in interviews will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Candidates also can apply online.

Mariano's stores have expanded across the area since the first one opened in Arlington Heights in 2010. Mariano's now has 36 locations in the suburbs and Chicago.
