ECC seeking employers for job, internship fair

Elgin Community College is inviting employers to reserve a table for its 2016 Job and Internship Fair.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22 at the college's Building J Spartan Events Center on the college's Elgin campus, 1700 Spartan Drive. It is organized in partnership with the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment-Workforce Development Division.

The college will provide a display table and two chairs. Employers must provide their own tablecloth, company banner and/or display, giveaways, recruiting materials and employment applications. Tables will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Employers are required to set up between 8:45 and 9:45 a.m. during which time breakfast and networking opportunities will be available. Boxed lunches also will be provided to all employers registered.

To participate, employers must complete an application form and provide proof of open positions. The cost is $175 per employer with a discounted rate of $150 for those who register by 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 17.

U-46 CEO a nominee for Elgin Image Award:

Elgin Area School District U-46 CEO Tony Sanders is among the nominees for the Elgin Image Awards.

The 24th annual Image Awards, which takes place Thursday, March 17, recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses for their hard work and dedication throughout 2015. Winners are selected by members of the Image Advisory Commission.

Awards are given out in five categories: individual professional; individual volunteer; projects, such as special events, fundraising projects and neighborhood improvements; organizations or businesses; and citizenship.

This year's nominees are:

• Individual/professional: Jeffrey Peirce and Tony Sanders.

• Individual/volunteer: Collin Blount, Douglas Yorke, Madeline Richmond, Mary Alice Masonick, Ron Meyer & Tim Meyer, Samuel Olson, and Tanner Bednar.

• Organization/business: Aktion Club of Elgin, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program at Elgin Community College, Downtown Elgin Harvest Market, James Harvey, Left, Right and You, Martini Room, MKD Electric, The Elgin Garden Club, Elgin Civics Club and the United Way of Elgin.

•Project: Elgin Area Convention of Visitor's Bureau's Bikes & Bites on the Fox, Downtown Neighborhood Association's Design Committee, Elgin History Museum & Grindstone Production's Project 2-3-1, and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Leadership Team's Spartan Food Pantry.

The awards ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public, but RSVP is required by calling (847) 931-5598.
