Two Des Plaines-area women died Monday after being struck and killed by vehicles in two separate accidents, authorities said Tuesday.
The pedestrian in the first collision, Hendrina Debruin, 88, was pronounced dead at 7:38 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She was struck by a vehicle at 9870 N. In a separate accident, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Monday afternoon as she crossed Touhy Avenue near Maple Street.
The pedestrian, identified as 79-year-old Angie Marines, was crossing outside a marked crosswalk at 4:30 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle headed westbound, according to a news release from the Des Plaines Police Department.
The woman was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by Des Plaines paramedics, but had succumbed to her injuries. An examination performed by the Cook County medical examiner's office found she died of multiple blunt force injuries.
No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon, though police said the investigation is ongoing.
