Chasteen wins nomination for Will County Circuit Clerk

Will County Democrats have chosen Andrea Lynn Chasteen of Frankfort as their candidate for clerk of the circuit court.

Chasteen tallied 53,043 votes in Tuesday's primary to beat Robert "Bob" Enright, who had 23,878 votes, according to unofficial counts from all 307 precincts. Barbara Guerrero ran as a write-in and unofficial results, excluding voters in seven precincts in the city of Aurora, showed 382 write-in votes cast.

Chasteen, 40, will face Marlene M. Carlson, a Republican from New Lenox, in the Nov. 8 general election to replace outgoing Democratic Circuit Clerk Pamela J. McGuire, who is stepping down after her fifth term.

Chasteen, who works as director of operations in the circuit clerk's office, gained McGuire's endorsement. If she wins in November, Chasteen said, she plans to advance initiatives McGuire started to launch a new clerk's website and prepare for electronic filing of case records.

"I'm excited to move forward and be part of the whole process," Chasteen said.
