Sherman wraps up Green contest in 5th congressional district

A Green Party primary contest for the 5th congressional district has Rob Sherman of Buffalo Grove with the edge over Warren "Grizz" Grimsley of Chicago late Tuesday.

With 574 of 585 precincts reporting, Sherman had 145 votes and Grimsley had 98, according to unofficial results.

Sherman, presuming he goes on to win, will face Congressman Mike Quigley in November's general election. Quigley, a Democrat, did not have a challenger in the primary.

Sherman, 62, of Buffalo Grove, is an airplane construction engineer and atheist activist.

He does not live in the 5th, which spans across Chicago's North side into suburban Cook County and eastern DuPage County.
