Wilbeck, Barnes leading for McHenry board seat

With fewer than half the votes counted Tuesday night, Tom Wilbeck and Yvonne Barnes are leading in the Republican primary for District 1 of the McHenry County Board.

Both open seats are for two years.

By 11 p.m. 17 of 38 precincts were counted, giving Wilbeck 2,791 votes and board member Yvonne Barnes 2,745 votes, unofficially.

Meanwhile, board member Anna May Miller was trailing with 2,129 votes and challenger Terence Ferenc 859 votes.

Wilbeck, 65, of Barrington Hills, is a retired financial services executive. Barnes, 55, of Cary, chairs the county's finance and audit committee.

The district includes portions of Algonquin, Barrington Hills, Cary, Huntley and Fox River Grove.
