Skala in early lead for GOP nod in McHenry Dist. 5

Michael Skala of Huntley led a three-person field Tuesday seeking the Republican nomination for two, 2-year District 5 seats on the McHenry County Board.

With two of 29 precincts reporting, unofficial tallies showed incumbent Skala leading with 693 votes; newcomers Andrew Snarski of Crystal Lake and Joeseph Calomino of Lake in the Hills trailed with 587 and 555 voters.

Skala was elected in 2012 after serving 14 years on the Community Consolidated School District 158 school board.

The two top vote-getters advance to the Nov. 8 general election against Democrat Alex Wimmer of Woodstock.
