Weekend picks: Dervish plays Fermilab's arts series

Whirling Dervish

For 27 years, Dervish has been trotting the music of Ireland out to all corners of the globe. Through the years, these lifelong friends have grown to specialize in both rousing and rollicking dance numbers and gentle and lilting versions of traditional Irish songs. 'Maple Sugaring Days'

Learn how tree sap turns into maple syrup when the Forest Preserve District of Kane County hosts its annual Maple Sugaring Days at the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles. Guests are invited to learn the tradition of maple tapping where they can try to drill and set a tap, then watch as sap thickens to syrup over an open fire. Irish Fest

Ramis tribute
