Last chance to register for Oakton late-start spring courses

There's still time to take a class or two at Oakton Community College during the spring semester. That's because many lifelong learning and credit courses begin in mid-March.

Late start courses include offerings in accounting; air conditioning, heating & refrigeration; biology; basic nurse assistant training; English; economics; health information technology; nursing and physical therapist assistant.

Several computing courses are also among the late start classes, including Windows fundamentals, WordPress, SAP and Linux courses. Additionally, students can learn Microsoft Office fundamentals in the following courses, which begin as soon as March 21:

• Word processing using Word (CAB 125)

• Presentation software using PowerPoint2013 (CAB 130)

• Electronic spreadsheeting using Excel (CAB 135)

• Advanced spreadsheeting using Excel (CAB 235)

Complete each registered course with a score of 70 percent or higher and earn a free voucher (worth $85) per class to take a Microsoft Office certification exam. Students who previously completed listed courses are not eligible for vouchers.

A complete list of late start credit courses can be found on the Oakton website, www.oakton.edu/late_start.

Students can register for courses up until the start of the class. Registration information is available at www.oakton.edu/admission/register/. Students who have not previously enrolled in courses at Oakton can apply for admission at www.oakton.edu/admission/.

Summer term offers additional opportunity to pursue academic and career training goals. Summer class registration begins March 23, and summer term begins June 6.
