No. 18 DePaul women top Butler 76-49 in Big East tourney

CHICAGO (AP) - Megan Podkowa scored 14 points, Jessica January had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists and No. 18 DePaul beat ninth-seeded Butler 76-49 on Sunday night in the Big East tournament quarterfinals.

Top-seeded DePaul - the reigning tournament champion - will play the winner of St. John's-Georgetown on Monday night.

DePaul, which never trailed, made four 3-pointers to jump out to a 12-2 advantage and led 23-11 after one quarter. The Blue Demons extended it to 39-19 at halftime, behind 11 points by Podkowa, and made six 3-pointers.

Butler was forced into 18 turnovers, leading to 26 DePaul points.

Jacqui Grant added nine points and nine rebounds for DePaul (25-7) before fouling out with 5:39 left. The Blue Demons have won 11 straight in the series.

Tori Schickel had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Butler (10-21), which was coming off its first-ever Big East tournament victory. Sydney Buck added 10 points.
