Hoffman, Palatine H.S. students get free snacks

Hoffman Estates High School is now offering free snacks to its students every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, in conjunction with tutoring opportunities that are available through the Resource Center.

The cost of all snacks are reimbursed through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Palatine High School will start the program next week. Both schools have 50 percent or more of their student population that qualifies for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

On average, more than 109 snacks per day have been served at Hoffman Estates High School since the program started two weeks ago.

"The after school snack program allows the Food Service Department the opportunity to provide our students with the nutrition they need to continue learning and excelling after the school day ends," said Stacy Lenihan, director of food service at District 211.
