Located over 40 miles west of downtown Chicago, the Kane County village of Elburn was officially incorporated in 1886. Once a rural town, it has been steadily and rapidly growing over the past few decades.

The city is home to many businesses like Elburn Coop, and a couple churches and restaurants. Many are familiar with the family-owned and award-winning Ream's Meat Market on Main Street. At the center of town runs the railroad.

Just south of the tracks is Elburn Lions Community Park, the home of the long-running annual Elburn Days festival in late summer. The festival draws thousands from all around to the truck and tractor pull event. It's quite a spectacle for not just the eyes, but also the ears, with its roaring engines.

Did you know there's a veterans memorial with a 50-ton decommissioned M60A3 Army tank on display? You can check it out right after you check out your library books at the Town & Country Public Library across the street.

In January 2006, Metra extended its Union Pacific/West Line to Elburn.
