Endorsement: Greenhaw for two-year term on MWRD board

Three Democrats are running for one 2-year term on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District board.

The race featuring Martin Durkan, Tom Greenhaw and Andrew Seo has been marred by objections over petition signatures and a lawsuit.

Someone also created a fake website for Durkan's campaign. Greenhaw and Seo both deny creating the website, which appears to be designed to undermine Durkan's campaign.

It's a shame that political shenanigans have taken such a lead role in the race.

Durkan, a business representative for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, believes that flood control should be the district's No. 1 priority and that finishing the deep water tunnel should be a priority.

Greenhaw, the founder of a retail technology company, has a great deal of experience with green projects and is passionate about creating programs for the proper disposal of medication.

Seo, a mechanical engineer who has worked at the MWRD for the past five years, has firsthand knowledge of the district's infrastructure.

Greenhaw is endorsed for the combination of energy, experience and creativity he brings to the race.
