Winter storm warning issued for today

The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a winter storm warning for today that could include 3 to 6 inches of snow, starting about 10 a.m. and lasting into the night. The heaviest snow is expected south of Interstate 80 in Cook and eastern Will counties. People also could experience wind gusts of up to 45 mph. and blizzard conditions. Full story.

Police: Missing Beach Park woman considered endangered

The Lake County sheriff's office says 28-year-old Beach Park resident Danielle Schultz was reported missing Tuesday and is considered endangered. Schultz was last seen around 9 p.m. Monday, when she made comments about threatening to harm herself and left her house on the 38700 block of North Sheridan Road, according to a news release. Rumors of Schaumburg violence not substantiated, authorities say

Schaumburg High School administrators and Schaumburg police determined a rumor "that there was going to be violence within the school" was not a credible threat to students and staff. Classes will be held as scheduled today. Full story.

Gurnee woman files excessive force lawsuit

Gurnee resident Quendalyne Alexander, 33, filed a federal lawsuit against three police officers from Round Lake and Round Lake Park. Alexander accuses the officers of using excessive force when they dragged her from a squad car, the complaint says. Full story.

Prairie Path users get new safety feature in Lombard

People using the Illinois Prairie Path can now use new signage and flashing lights as added protection to help alert motorists when pedestrians and bicyclists are using the path to cross Main Street in Lombard. Lombard's public works department installed the rapid flash beacon, or RRFB, system earlier this month. Full story.
