St. Charles East grad receives Soroptimist grant

Ashley Plurkowski of St. Charles was selected as the recipient of the 2016 Virginia Wagner Educational Grant from Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago.

The St. Charles East High School graduate is currently pursuing her degree in nursing at Aurora University in Aurora. She hopes to obtain her degree in 2017 and ultimately pursue a master's degree in nursing.

Life experience has created a desire to be a successful, educated, caring person who can help other people while growing into the woman that her grandmother and family have inspired her to be.

Soroptimists strive to improve the lives of women and girls in the local area and globally through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago offers several grants/awards for women and girls. The award celebration for Ashley and other suburban Chicago winners will be held in May.
