Arlington Heights school board sells another $8.5 million in bonds

The Arlington Heights Elementary District 25 school board has approved selling another $8.5 million in bonds to continue the ongoing work at two of its schools.

The sale, with $9.5 million sold last year, brings to $18 million what the district is spending to expand Ivy Hill and Olive-Mary Stitt elementary schools.

The latest bond sale was approved unanimously this week. Officials said the bond sale was split into two to take advantage of lower interest rates.

Construction at both schools started last fall and is expected to be completed by August 2016.

Ivy Hill is getting 10 additional classrooms; Olive will get five. Both schools will have new gymnasiums, new playgrounds and expanded common space.
