Candidates vie for Northwest suburban judicial subcircuit vacancies

Northwest suburban Cook County voters will be asked in the March 15 primary election to select nominees for seven vacancies in the 11th, 12th and 13th judicial subcircuits.

In the Zwick vacancy in the 11th subcircuit, the Illinois State Board of Elections lists a single candidate, William B. Sullivan, who is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.

There are no Republican candidates running to fill the vacancy, which means Sullivan will win unless another candidate emerges to challenge him in the November general election.

There is another vacancy in the 11th Subcircuit, which includes parts of Des Plaines and Chicago. Running to fill the Kelly vacancy are Democratic Party candidates Marc Martin, of Park Ridge; James DiChristofano, of Elmwood Park; and Catherine Anne Schneider, of Oak Park.

For the Kazmierski vacancy in the 12th Subcircuit - which includes parts of Wheeling, Elk Grove, Maine, New Trier and Northfield townships - the Democratic Party candidates are Louis George Apostol, of Northfield; Marguerite Anne Quinn, of Winnetka; Jennifer E. Bae, of Mount Prospect; and Frank J. Andreou, of Northbrook.

Running in the Republican primary for the vacancy is Thomas William Flannigan, of Winnetka.

Running for the Mathein vacancy, also in the 12th Subcircuit, are Democrats Janet Cronin Mahoney and Adam Scott Mathein, both of Glenview.

The Republican candidate for the Mathein vacancy is James Leonard Allegretti, of Park Ridge.

Running for the Tristano vacancy, also in the 12th Subcircuit, are Democrat Carrie Hamilton, from Winnetka, and Republican David Studenroth, of Glenview.

Running for a third vacancy in the 12th Subcircuit are Democrats James Edward Hanlon Jr., of Northbrook, and Allan W. Masters, of Glencoe.

The Republican candidates for that 12th Subcircuit vacancy are Alex Kaplan, of Glencoe, and Steven A. Kozicki, of Prospect Heights.

For the Fecarotta vacancy in the 13th Subcircuit - which includes parts of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Schaumburg and Streamwood - the Democratic candidate is Ketki "Kay" Steffen, of South Barrington.

The Republican candidates are Kevin Michael O'Donnell, of Arlington Heights, and Gary W. Seyrings, of Schaumburg.

According to its website, the Illinois State Bar Association will release its judicial evaluations next week.

Other area bar associations, including the Chicago Council of Lawyers and the alliance of bar associations, are expected to release evaluations around the same time.
