Pierre-Louis leads No. 21 Oklahoma women past No. 6 Texas

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - One impressive flurry for No. 21 Oklahoma was enough.

Vionese Pierre-Louis scored 17 points, and the Sooners used a 25-2 run to rally for a 74-56 victory over No. 6 Texas on Sunday.

"It's a huge win," Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said "We're in the middle of a really, really tough stretch. You can't get the next one until you get the first one and we put ourselves in really good position in order to do something special this week at West Virginia."

Kaylon Williams added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Sooners (17-7, 8-5 Big 12), who bounced back nicely from an 87-71 loss at Kansas State on Tuesday. Gioya Carter and Peyton Little had 11 points apiece.

Brooke McCarty led Texas (22-2, 11-2) with 19 points. The Longhorns, who shot 50 percent in an 83-76 win over the Sooners in Austin, connected on just 29 percent (18 of 62) of their shots in the rematch.

Texas had won six in a row. It dropped one game back of No. 4 Baylor for the Big 12 lead.

"We just didn't look like we had the competitive spirit," Texas coach Karen Aston said. "I thought we fought hard but we weren't nearly as competitive as they were. They were just the better team today."

Celina Rodrigo's 3-pointer lifted the Longhorns to their biggest lead of the day at 49-43 with a minute left in the third quarter. But the Sooners ripped off 25 of the next 27 points in their sixth straight win over Texas in Norman.

Williams was 6 for 13 from the field and helped limit Texas senior Imani Boyette to eight points on 2-of-12 shooting. Pierre-Louis scored in double figures for the fourth straight game.

"Both of them had such great rhythm. That defines the game today," Coale said. "They were not in a hurry but they weren't hesitant. There was just a very good feel to what they did. Very determined."
