Ex-Longhorn Johnson named Texas running backs coach

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Former Longhorn Anthony Johnson has been named running backs coach at Texas.

Coach Charlie Strong on Saturday announced the hiring of Johnson, who was running backs coach at Toledo and recently was named co-offensive coordinator for the Rockets.

Johnson takes over at UT for Tommie Robinson, who last month returned to USC as running backs coach and run game coordinator.

Johnson, prior to Toledo, was running backs coach at Sam Houston State.

Johnson played for the Longhorns from 2001-2005. He served on the control staff at Texas for three seasons, 2007-2009.
