Macias, Kedzie, Wylie Allen claim sectional titles
Burlington Central's Austin Macias, Kaneland's Austin Kedzie and Hampshire's Wylie Allen each claimed championships Saturday at the Class 2A Washington wrestling sectional. They advance to next weekend's state finals at State Farm Center in Champaign.
Macias, a sophomore, ran his record to 37-1 for the season with a 3-2 win over Jack Henderson of Bloomington in the 120-pound title match.
Kedzie, a junior, moved to 35-7 with a fall in 1:20 over J.P. Stedwill of Peoria Notre Dame in the 106-pound championship, while Allen (36-3) defeated George Strang of Kaneland 3-2 in the title match at 152.
Also advancing to state were Casey Allen of Hampshire (3rd at 132), Hayden Patterson of Kaneland (4th at 160), and Riley Vanik of Kaneland (3rd at 170)
