Indiana to launch plan to help adults finish college

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana will launch an initiative next week to give residents who haven't finished a college degree some help to get back into the classroom.

The plan by the Commission for Higher Education is called "You Can. Go Back." It will give those who qualify a $1,000 grant. The commission also created a website to help people find schools and programs that match their specific needs. The web address is youcangoback.com.

More than 750,000 Indiana residents have completed some college. Higher Education Commissioner Teresa Lubbers tells the Tribune Star (http://bit.ly/1XqcH3z ) their goal is to get 200,000 of them to finish a degree by 2020.

Lubbers says outreach efforts will focus first on people who have been out of college for less than 10 years and are considered most likely to return.
