North Central art students exhibit at the Paramount

The artwork of 15 North Central College students will be showcased through Monday, March 28, at the Paramount Theatre Art Gallery in Aurora as part of the 2016 Paramount Grand Gallery.

Students and pieces of artwork were selected by North Central College associate professor of art Barry Skurkis, who works with the curator of the gallery. The diverse collection includes 29 pieces of art created with mixed media, oils, acrylic on canvas, wood, tar, watercolor and more.

"I'm proud to say that it's one of our larger shows," said Meaghan Green, one of the student artists chosen to participate in the professional exhibit. "Quite a few of my peers took advantage of this opportunity."

A senior from Naperville, Green is majoring in studio art and English writing and has three pieces in oil paint on display.

The 15 artists, including titles of their work and medium, are:

• Elizabeth Alvarado, a freshman from Elgin majoring in interactive media studies/graphic arts: "Arches" and "Chameleon" in acrylic;

• Katie Bretz, a senior from Arlington Heights majoring in interactive media studies/graphic arts: "Explosions" in watercolor;

• Lauren Denler, a senior from Homer Glen majoring in studio art: "Pollutions" in wood, tar and stain;

• Giovanna Diaz Fabiani, a junior from Aurora majoring in sociology and studio art: "Repetition Minus Time" in ink, "A Town Borealis: 365 Sunrises and Sunsets" in watercolor and ink;

• Marguerite Ernst, a sophomore from Plainfield majoring in biology: "Drac Nouveau" in marker, "Alligator at Twilight" in acrylic;

• Kelly Mayumi Fukuhara, a junior from Japan: "Cups and Tomato," "Castle in Colorful" and "Lighthouse" in acrylic;

• Meaghan Green, a senior from Naperville majoring in studio art and English writing: "Sherwood," "Anna" and "Traditional Still Life" in oil paint;

• Alyssa Hepker, a junior from Sycamore majoring in studio art and marketing: "James" in marker;

• Robert Herrera, a junior from Aurora majoring in interactive media studies/media technology: "Rust" in oil on Masonite;

• Kandace Huebner, a junior from Naperville majoring in psychology and theater: "Midnight Waltz" and "Blosson" in acrylic;

• Natalie Kremer, a freshman from Bartlett majoring in studio art: "Bird's Nest" in ink, "Zen" in colored pencil, "Living Room" in watercolor;

• Isabella Moreti, a freshman majoring in studio art: "Tiny Breathes" in acrylics, "Creation" in white pencil;

• Grace Morris, a senior from Wausau, Wisconsin, majoring in studio art: "TAM-LIN 6" and "TAM-LIN 7" in Photoshop print;

• Victoria Rojas, a freshman from Carol Stream majoring in English studies: "Starry Night over Chicago," "Roses" and "Touch Me" in acrylic; and

• Isaiah Thompson, a sophomore from Bloomington majoring in studio art: "Pride" and "Walk on the Path" in oil paint.

The free exhibit is at the Paramount, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora.
