SYRIAN REFUGEES-INDIANA

INDIANAPOLIS - A federal judge is set to take up a refugee relocation group's bid to block Gov. Mike Pence's order barring state agencies from participating in the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Indiana. The judge will hear arguments Thursday in Exodus Refugee Immigration's request for a temporary injunction blocking Pence's order until the Indianapolis-based nonprofit's lawsuit is resolved. WHITCOMB MEMORIAL

EVANSVILLE CASINO

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The fate of Tropicana Evansville's plans to move from its current riverboat docked along the Ohio River to a new $50 million onshore facility will be considered at an Indiana Gaming Commission meeting later this month. The casino has two hurdles before opening. The commission must approve Tropicana's revised lease with the city of Evansville and approve the casino's request to move from a riverboat to a land-based facility. UPCOMING: 250 words.

EXCHANGE-URBAN DEER

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - City living agrees with young deer, according to research from Ball State University. "The basic bottom line is the fawns in town have twice the survival rate of fawns outside of town," said Tim Carter, a biology professor at Ball State who is helping with research of fawns and adult deer in and around Bloomington. That's what Carter and other Ball State researchers have discovered after conducting a 2013 to 2014 study of fawns in Bloomington and also in surrounding rural areas. By Carol Kugler. RICHMOND, Ind. - Richmond Police Department Officer Scott Glover served four years as a Marine K-9 handler, and now he's eager to work with a RPD K-9. But he needs a dog, and the police department needs $16,000 to pay for a dog and six weeks of training. Glover and the department are working to raise that money through donations. Since Lt. -GARY-TWO KILLED: Gary police say a man and woman involved in domestic dispute are dead after apparently shooting each other.

-EVANSVILLE CRASH-FILM: A man who made a documentary about the 1977 plane crash that killed all members of the University of Evansville men's basketball team is looking to get the film widely distributed.

-BLOOMINGTON POLICE SHOOTING: An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to breaking into an apartment shared by Indiana University students and raping one of them while holding a gun to her head.

-REPUBLIC SERVICES-FISHERS: Waste management company Republic Services says it is opening a corporate office in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers that will create as many as 469 jobs by 2025.

-TUBERCULOSIS-IUPUI: Tuberculosis testing has been recommended for nearly 400 students, faculty and staff at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis after a student was recently diagnosed.
