Mike Pence's order barring state agencies from participating in the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Indiana. INDIANA SENATE-BALLOT CHALLENGE

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana Republican leader says he was stunned to learn U.S. Rep. Todd Young might have failed to meet a state ballot requirement in his U.S. Senate campaign. Senate President Pro Tem David Long said Thursday that if Young's campaign fell short of submitting enough petition signatures it would be "one of the most colossal mistakes" he's seen. INDIANA-FOUR DEAD

INDIANAPOLIS - The attorney for a southern Indiana man appealing his quadruple murder conviction told the Indiana Supreme Court that circumstantial evidence linking him to that crime doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt he was the killer. A Bartholomew County jury convicted Samuel Sallee last year in the fatal 2013 shootings of three men and a woman. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. By Rick Callahan. INDIANAPOLIS HOUSE EXPLOSION

FORT WAYNE - An Indianapolis woman whose house exploded, killing two people, told a jury her then-boyfriend's half-brother was promised $10,000 to blow up the house so they could collect $300,000 in insurance. Monserrate Shirley told the jury she and Mark Leonard couldn't afford to pay Bob Leonard the $1,200 advance he requested. SENT: 350 words.

INDIANAPOLIS-SCHOOL BUS CRASH

INDIANAPOLIS - The driver of a bus that struck and killed an Indianapolis elementary school principal will not face criminal charges, a prosecutor announced Thursday. The driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol and there is no video of the incident, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said in explaining his decision. SENT: 265 words.

MUNCIE RIVERFRONT-PLAN

MUNCIE - A $48 million plan to develop Muncie's riverfront includes a proposed boardwalk, public plazas, pedestrian bridge, restaurants, commercial space and residential buildings. The city released the plans detailing what they are asking developers to build for the White River Canal District. SENT: 265 words.

- POLICE OFFICER CRASH: Authorities say an Indianapolis police officer was badly hurt when another vehicle went through a flashing red light and crashed into his patrol car.

- EVANSVILLE CRASH-FILM: A man who spent two years making a documentary about the 1977 plane crash that killed all members of the University of Evansville men's basketball team is looking to get the film widely distributed.

- BLOOMINGTON POLICE SHOOTING: An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to breaking into an apartment shared by Indiana University students and raping one of them while holding a gun to her head.
