Images: #TBT Gallery revisits Valentine's Day

A young Roman priest named Saint Valentine is behind the 14th day in February that some of us love, and some of us don't.

Saint Valentine would secretly perform matrimonial ceremonies for the soldiers belonging to Claudius II. The Emperor forbid the marriages fearing that they might not be able to concentrate on their job of fighting wars.

Saint Valentine was hanged on Feb. 14, 270 AD, and ever since we celebrate it with cards, flowers and a lot of kissing.

One interesting note, before he was hanged, Saint Valentine spent some time in prison and sent his last love letter to the jailer's daughter and finalized the letter by signing "From Your Valentine."
