Des Plaines woman dies in three-vehicle crash in Park Ridge

An 81-year-old Des Plaines woman who died Thursday morning after a three-car crash in Park Ridge has been identified, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9:55 a.m. at the intersection of Dee Road and Talcott Road, according to a news release.

Jean Nelson of Des Plaines attempting to turn left on Talcott from southbound Dee Road when her car collided with a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Chicago woman, authorities said. The Chicago woman's vehicle then hit a third vehicle stopped at a red light.

Police said Nelson became unresponsive at the accident scene after complaining of chest pains. She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was pronounced dead. There were no other significant injuries reported in the crash, authorities said.

The Park Ridge Police Department Major Crash Unit is still investigating the accident. The Cook County medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy Friday morning.
