Endorsement: Howland for Democrats in 6th District
In the Democratic race for Congress from the 6th District, College of Lake County board member Amanda Howland, 63, of Lake Zurich is seeking the nomination against Robert Marshall, a 72-year-old Burr Ridge radiologist.
Howland, an attorney, has impressed us during her tenure on the CLC board. She, like Roskam, believes the tax code needs to be overhauled. She would make a priority of solving the problem of excessive student debt. On health care, she readily admits there are problems with Obamacare but she would look to improve it rather than scuttle it.
Marshall would decrease military spending and withdraw all troops from Iraq and Syria. He favors legalizing marijuana and advocates splitting up Illinois into four different states.
Howland easily wins our endorsement.
