Schaumburg seeks artists for upcoming competition, festival

Schaumburg is seeking artist entries for the 2016 Prairie Plein Air Competition and Show and the 29th annual Prairie Arts Festival.

The Prairie Center Arts Foundation invites plein air artists to participate in the 2016 Plein Air Competition and Show by creating an original plein air painting or drawing of any location within the village. Plein air is a French expression that refers to art that is created outdoors with the artist's subject in full view.

Submitted works will be displayed May 18 to June 30 in the Herb Aigner Gallery inside the Prairie Center for the Arts. Entries are due by Friday, April 15. For additional information including the application, visit www.ci.schaumburg.il.us/PCA/art/Pages/Plein_Air_Show.aspx.

The village also is seeking artist entries to be displayed at the Prairie Arts Festival May 28-29 in Schaumburg. Applications are due online or postmarked by Friday, March 4. A variety of art is featured at the event including digital, drawing, fiber, furniture, glass, graphics, jewelry, leather, mixed media, painting, paper, photography, pottery, printmaking, sculpture and woodworking.
