Batavia library offers digital photography programs

Shutterbugs of the Fox Valley area are invited to the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave., for two separate digital photography programs on Saturday, Feb. 13.

"Getting the Most from Your Digital Camera" will be offered at 10 a.m. Professional photographer Roger Mattingly will explain the seven basic commands of point-and-shoot digital cameras. Participants will learn by watching and doing, so they should bring their camera and its instruction book.

At 1 p.m., former Chicago Tribune photographer John Dziekan will show participants how to "Shoot Photos like a Pro." Dziekan will offer tips and tricks to help amateur photographers become more creative in their picture taking. Participants should bring their cameras.

Both programs are free; however, registration is required. Register online at www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org or call the library Reference Desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.

The programs are part of the library's "How-To Community" series which solicits program topic requests from area residents and offers local experts the opportunity to share their talents and skills by presenting a program. A questionnaire is available on the library website for those persons requesting a program and those who have expertise they are willing to share.
